One payment for the next four releases. Each box ships when its batch is made. That works out at $99 a box, which is $80 less than buying four at the one-time price.
It is a single charge, not a subscription. Nothing renews, no card is kept on file, and there is no scenario in which you are billed for a box that does not exist. That is the entire reason it is built this way — see below.
Then we refund every box you have paid for and not received. Your money is set aside against those boxes, not spent on the next batch of shea butter.
A box a quarter, renewing on its own until you cancel. Same $99 a box as the Pass, but you commit one quarter at a time instead of four at once.
Ninety days is deliberate. It is comfortably longer than the gap between our batches, so the billing date and the shipping date do not fight each other. If a batch is ever going to be late, we pause the billing before the renewal rather than taking money for something we cannot send.

Your five pieces are set aside from the batch the day you join. That is what makes a monthly plan possible on a brand that only makes one batch at a time — you are not waiting for the next drop, you are drawing down a set that already has your name on it.
Over five months it comes to $120, which is a dollar over the one-time box price. You are not paying a premium to spread it, and you are not getting a discount for it either.

You are never charged for a box that has not shipped. Every option above is built backwards from that one sentence. It is why the Pass is a single payment rather than a subscription, why the standing order runs on 90 days rather than 30, and why the monthly plan ships pieces from a set reserved for you instead of waiting on the next batch.
The standing order and the Monthly cancel any time, with immediate effect, and you keep whatever has already shipped. The Release Pass is a prepayment — cancel it and we refund the boxes you have not received.
