Strong hold, for a handlebar that has to survive a full day and a bourbon. Firm in the tin, pliable once it is warm, and it does not flake.
| Ingredient | Amount | What it is doing |
|---|---|---|
| Beeswax | 45% | The hold. This is a wax, so the wax leads. |
| Anhydrous lanolin | 15% | Grip and pliability. It is what stops a strong wax going brittle and flaking. |
| Shea butter, raw unrefined | 15% | Takes the edge off the wax so it works out of the tin. |
| Grass-fed tallow | 10% | Conditioning, and it warms up faster than butter alone. |
| Jojoba | 10% | Spreadability. |
| Castor | 3% | Tack. This is the ingredient doing the actual curling. |
| Vitamin E (tocopherol) | 1% | Antioxidant. |
| Fragrance blend | 1% | Release 001, dosed low — it sits directly under the nose all day. |
For a stronger hold in summer, swap 5% of the beeswax for pine rosin. Rosin is a known skin sensitiser for some people, so if you do it, it goes on the label.
Cosmetic product. It softens and conditions hair and the skin beneath it. It will not make your beard grow, and anyone who tells you their oil does is lying to you. Patch test on the inside of your elbow first if you have reacted to a grooming product before.
